What does the auto-replenishment in NCMC cards mean?

The RBI has extended the e-mandate framework to include auto-replenishment for National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC). The NCMC is a versatile card that can be used for various transactions (including metro travel, bus services, and parking fees). Auto-replenishment allows card balances to be automatically topped up when they drop below a pre-defined threshold.

This development eliminates the hassle of manual top-ups and supports the increasing adoption of NCMC in urban mobility. By incorporating auto-replenishment into the e-mandate framework, the RBI aims to update recurring payments while safeguarding customer convenience. The exemption from pre-debit notifications for such transactions reflects the practical needs of recurring payments without fixed intervals.
