Starting August 15, 2025, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is introducing a new FASTag-based Annual Toll Pass for private vehicles. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed the update on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
The pass will cost Rs 3,000 per year and is meant for non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. Once activated, it will be valid for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.
This initiative aims to make highway travel smoother, faster, and more cost-effective . It also addresses frequent complaints from commuters who pass through multiple toll plazas within a 60-kilometre radius , by offering a single, affordable payment option.
The Annual Pass is expected to reduce wait times, traffic congestion, and disputes at toll booths. With this system, private vehicle owners can enjoy a hassle-free travel experience on national highways.
For activation or renewal, users can soon access a dedicated link via the Rajmarg Yatra App, or visit the official NHAI or MoRTH websites.
Even after the pass expires, users can continue using their FASTag by simply recharging it like before.
In short, the new FASTag Annual Pass provides a convenient, budget-friendly solution for regular highway commuters — saving both time and money.
