New FASTag Policy: Pay ₹3,000 Once a Year for Unlimited Highway Travel

In a major update for Indian commuters, the government has announced a new FASTag policy starting in 2025. Under the revised system, frequent travelers can now buy a FASTag for an annual fee of ₹3,000. This one-time yearly payment will allow unlimited travel on all national highways, expressways, and state expressways without the hassle of maintaining a prepaid balance.

This change is expected to greatly benefit people who regularly use highways, such as long-distance commuters, transporters, and travelers. Once the FASTag is purchased for the year, users can drive freely across the country’s toll roads without stopping for payments or worrying about recharges.

For those who don’t travel much on highways, there’s a flexible pay-as-you-go option. Instead of paying the full ₹3,000 upfront, occasional users can pay ₹50 for every 100 km they travel. This ensures that people who use highways less frequently don’t end up paying more than necessary.

The government hopes this new toll system will simplify travel, reduce toll booth traffic, and improve efficiency. It also encourages digital and contactless transactions, further aligning with India’s push for smart infrastructure and ease of movement.

Whether you’re a daily commuter or a casual highway user, this new FASTag policy gives you the freedom to choose the most cost-effective and convenient travel option for your needs.
